Ouchigohan! Japanese Teatime (Online)

Join the Japan Society’s family-friendly online Japanese cooking class series Ouchigohan! and cook along from your own kitchen. In February, you will find yourself transported into a Japanese tearoom! First, you wil learn how to make wagashi—a traditional Japanese sweet that pairs well with tea. Cook along with step-by-step guidance from TABLE FOR TWO’s Debra Samuels to prepare daifuku, a small round mochi rice cake filled with anko, or sweet red bean paste. After preparing the treats, you will be joined by Tomoko Honda of Ippodo Tea to learn all about three kinds of classic Japanese teas - sencha, matcha and hojicha - , and how to brew them. You won’t want to miss this opportunity to learn more about everyday Japanese Teatime as it is enjoyed by friends and families!
